Lynn's official obituary

Lynn H. Snow
1944 ~ 2012
On November 7, 2012, Lynn Hogan Snow was released from his battle with cancer, heart disease and diabetes. In 1990, after complications from heart bypass surgery, he was given only two hours to live. With the prayers and faith of family, many good friends and neighbors, and Lynn's strength and determination, he was able to stretch those 2 hours into 22 years. Lynn graduated from South High School and the University of Utah. He served honorably in the Central States Mission. He spent his career in the janitorial chemical business as a salesman and sales manager. He loved his family and was very proud of his children and their many accomplishments. Lynn is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda; children, Kyle (Layla), Ryan (Shellie), Joshua (Christen), and Jessica (Cory); 4 grandchildren, and one on the way. At Lynn's request, no formal services will be held. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held November 17, 2012, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Snow Residence. In Loving Memory

Lynn Hogan Snow
June 25, 1944 - November 7, 2012

Just two days ago we lost a very dear member of our family. Josh's dad, Lynn passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by people who cared a great deal for him. Lynn spent a large amount of the last 22 years battling many difficult health conditions. The latest of which was lymphoma. He survived a heart attack at a very young age and several years later a heart transplant.
Lynn was an incredible person, and I will be indebted to him forever. With his dear wife, Linda, He raised the man that would become my best friend, and spouse, and then would go on to become the father of my children. They raised smart, generous, and strong children.
Lynn was able to see all of his children graduate college, most recently, Josh who graduated from Law School in Washington, DC just this last may. The trip was difficult but we could not have been more honored and grateful that he was able to make that journey.
Lynn loved his family more then anything- He and Linda welcomed us into their home a second time to live and we have been blessed to spend Lynn's last days so nearby. He adored his grandchildren and they him. Henry enjoyed drawing pictures for Grandpa, as well as eating lunch with him, playing games with him, reading, or simply just watching TV with him. We have a lot of wonderful memories of this incredible man, and he will be greatly missed. We love you Lynn.

Henry and I asked to sit with Lynn briefly, the morning of the 7th, before his nurse arrived. I am so grateful we did. We did not know that we would lose him just hours late.Lynn had been given something to help him sleep through the night and had not waken so while Grandpa slept Henry sang grandpa all the songs he knows. He told grandpa what it looked like outside his window, and showed grandpa his new flying car. As we finished our visit, Henry decided he wanted to leave his new car for grandpa to play with and left it on the bed with him. Just hours later we were told he was preparing to leave this world and enter the next. As we watched him take his last few breathes in this lifetime I found myself unprepared for this moment. How would we explain to my sweet 3 year old, who adored this man, that we would not see him again in this life when I was struggling so greatly with the idea myself? Oh the lessons we learn from our children. We explained to Henry that Grandpa was going to meet the new baby. He was going to tell him/her all about Henry and our family. We talked to him about how Grandpa hasn't seen his mom or dad, or siblings in a really long time and they were looking forward to seeing Grandpa soon. Henry was patient and it seemed he had a hard time understanding until Grandpa was gone. I took him back into the room that Grandpa was in just a few short hours earlier to show him that he was no longer there. That he went to live with Jesus, and that we would see him again someday when we went to Heaven. He seemed to begin to understand, and later that night as I was clearly upset with the days events He just hugged me. He told me "Mom, Heaven isn't far away. We are going to visit Grandpa when we go to Heaven. It's okay mom." I am so grateful for my sweet Henry. I am so grateful for Lynn and the example of a family man he was to me. Please keep his dear sweet wife, my mother in law in your prayers as she embarks on a new chapter of her life. Please keep my dear sweet husband in your prayers as he has lost his mentor, friend and father, and this family as we mourn the lose of a father, a husband, and a grandfather.

Lynn's official obituary will be posted in Sunday, November 11, 2012 newspaper as well as Friday, November 16, 2012

I have actually wanted to write this post for a rather long time. I feel the need to express my great gratitude and love for my husband via a blog post. I am grateful everyday to be married to such a hardworking, dedicated, wonderful man, but these last 6 or 8 weeks he has far surpassed what I have always thought to be a wonderful father and husband. Since I have started school he spends his days working and his nights being a single, full time daddy. The joy that he and Henry seem to find in spending this great amount of time together (sans mommy) is incredible to witness. They shop, and do projects, and read, and build forts, and talk and talk and talk. They are so sweet together.
My sweet husband recently passed the bar! We are so proud of him. For those that don't know, and many of you that read my blog do already know, but for those of you who don't know.... The time, and dedication and studying that it takes to pass the bar are not to be taken lightly, and Josh never did. He studied for hours and hours each day this summer - He would study early in the morning, late at night, and it seems like everything in between.
While preparing for the the bar Josh was putting the finishing touches up on his Note that was recently PUBLISHED! Yes, I am such a proud wife. His name and title of his note are even on the COVER of the book.

Because Josh recently passed the the bar he was able to be sworn in as an attorney which was amazing to see. He is now passed and sworn in! So proud of my lawyer husband
After the swearing in ceremony - such handsome boys.

Anyway, I know that you don't have to personally experience a difficult personal relationship to be so grateful for the amazing ones you have. I am grateful everyday that the good Lord blessed me with such a wonderful man. He shows his son each day how much he cares for him by spending some good quality time with him. I know he loves me by the support and love he shows for me and everyone one of my crazy ideas or adventures. I know he loves and is dedicated to his family and tries hard to be there for them and help in any way can. We love you sweethart. We are so proud of you for all your accomplishments and so grateful to have you apart of our lives. We love you!

New Project

Josh found this old door at the DI one day for 10.00! We had talked about making a headboard from an old door for a few weeks and were on the lookout when he found this awesome, and very cool deal. We are going to paint it yellow and line it lights in the back so the glass lights up at night. Its going to be so cool. The finished product will be up soon!

George Washington University Law School Graduation 2012

We are excited to announce, as most of you know already, that Joshua has Graduated with Honors from George Washington University Law School!! I have felt a number of emotions as we have experienced this amazing achievement of Josh's. First, I am so proud. I have witnessed the hours and hours and hours and hours of work Josh has put into studying, writing papers, working on projects, contests, and doing pro bono internship work, and I amazed with how much motivation he has to work hard and do well in his education. We have been incredibly blessed by this entire experience. First by being able to attend a school high on Josh's list of places he wanted to study. We have been blessed with supportive families, and good friends along the way. Great wards, and the opportunity to live in great neighborhoods. We have enjoyed living in this amazing part of the country and have had the opportunity to see much of what the East Coast has to offer. We have experienced great joy while Josh attended school here.

Second, I am Excited. I am so excited for the next chapter of our lives to begin. Josh had decided to pursue a Job at the Salt Lake Legal Defenders Association. He interned there the summer of 2011 and really enjoyed his work there. He has the opportunity to do some legal research for them this coming summer while he studies for and takes the bar, after which he will apply for a job with them. We are excited for the possible opportunity to live in the Salt Lake/Sugarhouse area.

Third, I am Sad. I am sad to leave such an amazing area! It was amazing to live here! I could go on and on and on about the amazing things and places we have seen and done. I wont bore you with all that, but I am so sad to be leaving such a fun place to live. I am sad about leaving the close friends we have gained while being here and am grateful they all have connections to UT so they will always have a reason to visit!

I have posted some pictures of graduation hilights. Enjoy! and Thank You Josh, for being such an amazing Husband, Father, and Student. Thank You DC for the adventures you have offered, and we hope to see you again someday!

Friday Night Josh was awarded with about 40 other students for their Pro Bono work during their law school career. We enjoyed dinner, a ceremony for all their hard work and a baseball game. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed the night out with Josh's Parents.

Not an entirely great picture, but there is Josh, posing with the Presidents!
The Nats played the Orioles

Saturday night we were lucky enough to enjoy the Dean's Reception at the Air and Space Museum on the National Mall. It was INCREDIBLE. It was fun to dress up, visit with friends and enjoy amazing hors d'oeuvres. They had live entertainment, and the simulators going! It was so much fun.

After the reception Josh and I just werent quite ready to go home, so we enjoyed  a couple games of bowling! Josh won both games, but I did get a good lead the first 1/2 of both games. :)

Graduation on the the National Mall. This was Incredible!
Brian Williams was our key note speaker. He was so funny and seemed like a genuinely nice gentlemen. He was very inspiring.

Henry had to sit for 11, yes, ELEVEN, hours! He was a great little trooper.

Handsome Graduate!

Restless Henry....

Mother's Day

My ADORABLE husband let me sleep in on Mother's Day, and surprised me with this incredibly decadent breakfast. Let me just tell you because my picture just doesnt do it justice. This is homemade, raspberry, cream cheese stuffed french toast. It was AH-MAZ-ING! I enjoyed breakfast in bed with my boys and was surprised again with an adorable new summer bag, and purple watch. Thank you for such a wonderful Mother's Day sweethheart. It was very memorable!

My handsome boys.

Life is good

Last night at the mall Josh and I sat holding hands and watched Henry run laps, slide down the slides, and climb on everything at the play place at the mall. My only thought? 'This is a good moment' Life is hard, and full of really adult decisions that I never feel I am old enough to make. There are moments each day though, if you look for them, that remind us of the good things in life. Holding my sweet husbands hand while we watched our son run himself ragged, laughing all the way..... well, that is one of those moments.

I have a dear friend who is very talented in many many areas. One of those being photography. She was generous enough to snap some of these sweet moments.

Happy Graduation - 2 MONTHS Early!

Well, I found a deal I could not pass up. I purchased Josh's graduation present a couple weeks ago, and with some clever detective work on his part, he was able to figure that I had indeed purchased something and that it was most likely something he really wanted. An Ipad he thought... Well, He was correct. That left with me with 2 options. 1. I could torture him for the next two months knowing it was here and that he couldn't have it. OR 2. Give it to him early so he could reap the benefits of owning such a fun toy two months earlier then planned. I decided on the latter, however I did decide he would have to work for it. SO, I sent him on a scavenger hunt. I told him it was our FHE activity and sent him and Henry on their way. This was SOOO much fun. I am certain I will do this again in the future. I wanted to remember what I had done, so below you will find the clues he followed to his gift.... ENJOY

The Note to start with the first clue:
"Welcome to the game of mine, a treasure soon you will find!
Enjoy the hunt and have some fun, for it will quickly be done!"

1. I'm in the mood for something GROOVY, so let's go watch a _ _ _ _ _  (Movie!)
2. Look high, look low, look where the water flows
3. We gotta stay cool so lets go to the _ _ _ _ (Pool!)
4. Clue number 4, there's just a few more, Where do you rest your head? Go to your bed!
5. We gotta do something to beat the heat! Lets go get something to _ _ _ (Eat)
6. I know how to find number 6, look for something we use to mix!
7. Stiff is my spine and my body is pale, but I'm always ready to tell a tale
8. You put your clothes in when they are wet, and I will dry them? YOU BET!
9. Plastic or glass, I hold your drink. To wash me out, use the sink!
10. Water and light I need to grow. You can find me near a window.
11. I have a face, it doesn't frown. I have no mouth, just a sound. I have hands they dont wave. I dont walk, but move around. (clock or watch)
12. Ahh.. the kids make such a mess - Check around someone's nest
13. When I point up it's bright, but when Im down it's dark (Light switch or switch on a lamp)
14. The next clue subsides in the right kind of wheels, but a man can find it only if he kneels. (Tire)
15. Have you been a good boy this year? Cleaned up your toys and put away your gear? You might want to check just one last time...is there a wrench out place or too much grease or grime? (tool box)
16. This is your last clue till a treasure you find, a child loves me, but without eyes I am blind (Mr. Potato Head)
Josh LOVES his graduation present and I am so proud of him for all the hard work he puts into his education. I am certain I dont tell him enough, but I am so grateful for the man he is. I am so grateful he is a family man. He is a wonderful father and spends hours on long walks with Henry, at the park, or on outings for a treat or a bagel... sometimes to spend Henry's saved money in his piggy bank on a special toy. They have a very sweet relationship, and I feel so blessed. I am grateful Josh is such a wonderful husband. Always willing to help a little more then usual when I am down, or even just if I need a break! Happy Graduation sweetheart. No one deserves this more then you.

Happy St. Patricks Day - 5 Extraordinary Years

The last 5 years have been the best of my life. I love you baby.
5 Years later:
1 Incredible, handsome little boy -
6 moves
2 schools
So Much More, and One really happy family...

I LOVE this lamp. Josh is incredibly creative don't you think?.... He let me think for just a minute or two I was getting just the white lamp before he turned it on. I'll probably fall asleep with it on for the next couple nights.
I got Josh this wooden watch for our anniversary. We dont usually do the 'traditional' anniversary gifts  - I thought it wold be fun for our 5 years to do something wooden. So voila! AND he was just telling Henry he didn't have a brown watch... Phew, Im glad that worked out.
We started our anniversary by visiting the Library of Congress where Josh was able to get a Library Card. He has wanted one for the last 2.5 years so I decided it was now or never. I forgot how colorful the Library of Congress was! It is sooo beautiful inside.
When I planned out date I didn't realize that there was a 1/2 marathon going on in the city  so we enjoyed a rather long walk to the Library of Congress. It couldn't have been more incredibly beautiful though.

We enjoyed lunch at the Founding Farmers. I had never been, but I'd heard great things about it. It was a bit noisier then I thought and would have liked, but the food was wonderful, the company even better.
Later that evening we spent some time wandering Old Town Alexandria. We LOVE it here.  The old book and antique stores...The old and new shops....the fun restaurants. Its amazing. Each time I go I love it more. We ended up at the waterfront to enjoy our Cheesecake Factory cheesecake. YUM! It was a beautiful night. The picture above is of a gentleman playing these glasses of water. We have seen him before but each time I see him I am impressed more then I was the time before. He just tapes all these glasses to the table and plays incredible songs. I Love coming here to see and hear him.
